Fall 2006 Open Tournament
The Fall 2006 Open Tournament was held at Boston University's Student Activity Center on Saturday December 2nd. Attending the tournament this semester were many schools from New England. Schools included the Boston Karate Club, Rossini Karate Aiki-Jutsu, and the Nam Pai Academy. NECKC/NAKF member schools of UMass Lowell, Tufts University, Boston University, Boston College and Haverhill Shotokan were also in attendance.
The tournament began with the bestowing of new dan ranks to certain students and instructors who have shown dedication and contibution to the art, and aptitude for the requirements of their new ranks. Among those who were honored were:
The tournament was made up of team events and individual events, ending with the Boston Battle competition. This tournament also saw the introduction of a Senior Men's division, and a Grand Champion division for kata and kumite. Photos of the action at the tournament are available in the photos section.
